Water is essential to our operations. As a resource we share with our community, we are responsible for using it efficiently and fairly.

Monitoring and reducing water use

Water conservation projects are essential and since 2018, we have reduced the amount of water abstracted for use across our sites by 25%. A cross-functional team reviews processes and identifies efficiency opportunities, focusing on process water and sanitation. We publish water usage data internally so that employees can see the impact of their efforts. Crucially, water use is discussed during the shift change-over meetings, keeping it front of mind for every employee.

Reducing wastewater

Water is essential for the safe sanitation of our machines. We have reduced the need for water by making scheduling and process improvements. We’ve adjusted the sanitation schedule to make the flushing of our equipment more efficient and reduce our water usage. As a result of this focus, we have reduced our wastewater volumes.
