Managing waste

We’re constantly seeking ways to increase efficiencies and make raw materials go as far as possible. In addition, our people are always looking for new ways to reuse or recycle our waste.

Zero waste to landfill

We aspire to send zero waste to landfills, meaning most of our waste is repurposed, reused or recycled.

Small steps to big change

We believe that even the smallest changes are worth making because collectively, that’s what can make a difference. Across our sites, we’ve made changes, including:

  • Improving our recycling rates by introducing new recycling bins for plastic, glass and cardboard
  • Avoiding the use of paper and switching to cloud-based computing, digital invoices and quotes
  • Correctly sorting the pallets used for bringing supplies into our sites so that they can be reused or recycled
  • Responsibly recycling electronic waste, such as computers and printers
  • Installing water coolers and encouraging the use of refillable containers so that our employees don’t have to rely on bottled water and single-use plastics
  • Providing live resource tracking information so that we can continuously improve our resource efficiency

Award-winning improvements

Our waste reduction efforts were recognised in the latest ABFI Health, Safety and Environment Awards thanks to wide-ranging measures to eliminate ingredient and product waste throughout our operations. Improvements were made to the production process and containers were modified to reduce spillages and waste.
